What could you use it for?
For a small business, a useful experiment is assembling approved product documents or research material in one notebook, then asking specific questions. This keeps the task tied to a defined source collection rather than an open-ended chat.
What does it offer?
Google describes source-grounded answers with inline citations and formats such as briefings, study guides, mind maps and audio overviews. A citation gives you somewhere to check a claim; it does not make every answer correct.
Plans and limitations
A Standard tier is available without charge to eligible accounts. Google lists higher limits through qualifying Google AI, Workspace and other plans. The current Standard source limit is 50 per notebook, with generation quotas and availability varying by account and plan.
What to check before adopting it
Use documents you have permission to upload. Check the data-handling terms for your personal or work account, as those arrangements differ. Source material can be outdated, incomplete or contradictory, and the generated response still needs verification.
A practical first test
Ask a question whose answer you already know, then inspect the cited passages. Repeat with a question that the documents cannot answer and see whether the tool makes that limitation clear.
